Health & Wellbeing | Overview

Eligibility

When your eligibility for benefits coverage starts depends on your employment status:

  • Executive staff and pastors: from date of hire
  • All other employees: on the 1st of the month following 90 days of employment

NOTE: If you’re from Atlantic Canada, you can access your benefits plan information here.

How the benefits plan works

Your Canadian Baptist Benefits plan (CBBP) is a key part of keeping you and your family healthy and well. The plan was designed to offer comprehensive coverage and give you some flexibility in how you spend your benefits dollars. It also provides valuable protection from unanticipated health events.

Core coverage

All members get core coverage for Long-Term Disability (LTD), Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D), Healthcare online by Consult+, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and Best Doctors.

Flexibility and choice

You then have the opportunity to:

  • Choose personalized health and dental coverage from three options – Standard, Enhanced or Premium;
  • Add additional optional insurances; and
  • Update your benefits selections every two years.

All so your coverage continues to meet your changing needs and circumstances.

Your benefits choices can include coverage for prescription drugs, vision care, paramedical services, medical services and supplies, dental care and global medical assistance; plus you can add additional optional life insurance and critical illness insurance with Canada Life's Freedom to Choose program, and AD&D insurance with CHUBB.

Depending on which option you choose, you may also have access to a Healthcare Spending Account (HCSA) which you can use to pay for health and dental expenses beyond what the plan covers.
